This availability does not entail any requirements in terms of maintenance. A box-unit is installed, accustoms itself very quickly, and then can be forgotten. The extra power shows itself as soon as you push down on the accelerator. It has been designed to cut in smoothly, progressively and therefore to work as one with the original power of the vehicle.
